What is least-cost routing?

Least-cost routing sends contactless debit card payments through the cheaper debit network where possible. It could save you money by reducing the cost to acquire debit contactless transactions.

Is the EFTPOS terminal free?

No. Terminals are rented monthly: $17 per month for the Verifone P630L countertop terminal or $28 per month for the Verifone V660P-A portable terminal with printer (ex GST, per terminal). Businesses with card sales over $70k a month may qualify for a free terminal, and our team checks this during signup. There is no lock-in contract.

Does Kokipay accept American Express?

Yes. American Express is accepted at a separate rate. The low cost flat rate applies to domestic Visa, Mastercard and eftpos cards, and international Visa, Mastercard and UnionPay cards.

Can I manage multiple stores?

Yes. You can set up, track and customise settings across multiple locations, with sales reports by store and terminal.

Will it integrate with my retail POS?

Kokipay EFTPOS integrates with Kokipay Smart POS for faster checkout. With another retail POS, use the terminal standalone alongside it.

Can Australian businesses still surcharge card payments?

On 1 October 2026, eftpos, Visa and Mastercard introduced no-surcharge rules in Australia following the Reserve Bank of Australia’s review of retail payments, and American Express, UnionPay and PayPal said they would do the same. That means businesses can no longer add a fee because a customer pays by card, so a low flat rate such as Kokipay’s Low Cost EFTPOS matters more than ever. See the RBA’s FAQs for details.
